Our Staff

All of the teachers and staff at Nyack’s Little Schoolhouse and Christa Care are committed to the welfare of the children under our care.  All of our teachers are warm and loving and enjoy working with children and their parents.  Our staff is fully qualified to provide an age appropriate curriculum that takes into account the needs of each individual child and the group as a whole.

Christa Sampath is the founder of Nyack’s Little Schoolhouse and Christa Care, a licensed toddler center and preschool that has been in operation since 1986.  Christa was the first provider in Rockland County to obtain CDA accreditation and has also obtained NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) certification.

In addition to Christa Sampath, the staff will also include a head teacher with a B.A., M.A. or equivalent in Early Childhood Education. The head teacher will be responsible for helping to develop the curriculum as well as its implementation. Other responsibilities include general operations of the toddler center, supervising staff and interacting with parents.  Assistant teachers and teachers’ aides will make up the rest of the staff.

All staff has CPR/First Aid training and undergoes continuous in-house training in addition to participation in outside workshops such as those offered by the Council For Young Children or area colleges.

Staff members must receive State Central Clearance by the NYS Department of Social Services and their references are checked by Christa Care prior to hiring.

In addition to our teachers we also have specialists that visit throughout the week to further enhance our program. We have a reading specialist, a yoga teacher, and a German teacher that all bring their talents to Nyack’s Little Schoolhouse and Christa Care.
